This patient had skin cancer twice and had 2 large biopsies on her upper lip and the left lower lip/marionette areas. This left her with a “bulge” in the left lower lip that she really disliked on the left side, thickened tissue of lower lip centrally and overall asymmetry as compared to right side which she called “thin.” She also had a prominent marionette on left side compared to the right. She doesn’t like the deep line above her chin and I notice that she unconsciously has pulling of her chin muscle making everything else more prominent/wrinkled.
She had never done botox or filler in the past. Botox (5 units) was done in her chin to relax the muscle and filler in the upper/lower lips as well as marionettes to improve and soften this area. We used a total of 2 syringes of Juvederm, done ~4 months apart as the scar tissue makes injections much more difficult. She loved her after results from the 1st treatment, but was impressed with her superior results from the fine tuning that the 2nd syringe gave her 4 months later!!
She now has more symmetrical lips, significantly reduced marionette folds and a softer chin that improves her facial shape as well. Although we can’t take out the scar tissue and make the area completely smooth, the patient is impressed beyond her expectations and doesn’t feel self conscious about this area anymore!
